Dan Alvarez - CEO and Co-Founder
Dan Alvarez is a successful serial entrepreneur with decades of business experience. After careers at GE and a large Chicago hospital, Dan ventured into business for himself and started TKX Leasing in 1990. In 1992, Dan founded and operated Alvarez Cold Storage and Alvarez Distribution Systems, both companies serving the storage and distribution markets in Chicago.

In 1995, Dan founded and operated two industrial container facilities, and to this day still run by Dan. One of these facilities covers 60 acres and is one of the largest such facilities in the Midwest. Looking to expand to new horizons, Dan set his sights on importing, and in 2006, Golden Hill Foods was born.

Powered by a huge work ethic and 'get-the-job-done' mentality, Dan prides himself on being able to create value and satisfy his customers. Dan served his country honorably during the Vietnam war, and brings that honor to every one of his customers.

John Bartosek - Director of Sales
John excels in leadership and project management, skills honed over a 30 year career with companies like Kodak and Hewlett-Packard.

His skills and experience are well leveraged for Golden Hill Foods in his role as Director of Sales, where he manages the company’s direct sales and customer account management. With his certification as an ISO quality auditor, quality assurance is never far from his mind as he works with discerning clients in food and meat packaging, processing, and distribution.

His “customer comes first” attitude has helped him increase GHF’s customer satisfaction ratings significantly since joining the company in 2010.

Roger Guerrero - Director of Marketing and Operations
Roger brings over two decades of consumer goods experience to his role as Director of Marketing and Operations for Golden Hill Foods. His passion for creating mutually beneficial scenarios is one of the cornerstones of Golden Hill Foods’ excellent customer service.

Roger maximizes benefits to customers by managing all points of the supply chain, while maintaining not only product safety but also product quality. Roger’s strength is the ability to create business solutions that benefit Golden Hill Foods’ customers and operations.

Roger’s technology and web skills further Golden Hill Foods’ efforts to bring the best customer service to its growing client base.

Demetrio Garcia - Director of Business Development and Supplier Diversity
As a global executive and visionary leader, Demetrio continuously strives to serve his customers and community. He has travelled the globe perfecting his skills in program management, operations, supply chain and logistics for over 25 years. His global plus local focus creates a well-rounded approach to business development, providing insight to small mom-and-pop shop businesses and multinational corporations alike.

Educated as an engineer, Demetrio brings an analytical eye and international business perspective to Golden Hill Foods. Because of his diverse background, he finds clients the rare blends and solutions they need to create their own authentic, delicious foods and products.

Demetrio is also highly invested in community and national business and civic organizations, serving on various boards such as the National Hispanic Sales Network and The Barrio Foundation, as well as volunteering for the Boy Scouts of America. He has a strong passion about networking and connecting that he brings to everything he does in business and his community.

Sergio Fernandez - Director of Research and Development
Sergio's career in R&D began in 1981 at the University of Havana as a researcher. He became head of the Food Science & Technology department in 1988 and remained in that position until he emigrated to Finland in 1992.

After resettling in Helsinki, Sergio launched his career in the private sector as a product developer at "Six LTD" an 80 year old Finnish Company specializing in the development and commercialization of seasoning blends to the food industry.

In 2005 Sergio was promoted to the Director of Research and Development. In 2011 Sergio moved to the USA continuing his career as head of R&D at Golden Hill Foods. The Company is fortunate to have Sergio leveraging his global experience in developing innovative products for the seasoning industry.

John Nykaza - Ingredients Specialist Advisor
John is a Food Scientist with over 30 years in the business and started his career with Griffith Laboratories in their Meat Laboratory.

He then moved into a technical sales position and later joined Kraft General Foods in international sales at their Oscar Mayer Ingredient division. He joined Saratoga Specialties (a division of Smithfield Foods) as the General Manager of their spice and seasoning manufacturing plant. He managed the division for many years and then moved on to start his own sales & marketing consulting company-focusing on natural ingredients and agricultural industries.

John is well known in the food spices and ingredients industry and also brings a wealth of technical, market and innovative expertise to the Golden Hill Foods team.

Angel Cantu - Mexico Operations Manager
Born and raised in Monterrey Mexico, Angel has a graduate degree in International Agribusiness that has positioned him in top multi-national companies.

Starting to work for PwC (PricewaterhouseCoopers) as a consultant for Customs & International trade for 2 years, before working at Griffith Foods as Regional Buyer for North America with purchasing responsibilities on chilies, spices, fresh produce and contract farming during 4 years.

Jeff Hunt – Marketing Advisor
A senior business executive recognized for optimizing the business and leveraging brands to deliver increased sales and profitability through brand building, product optimization, strategic redirection and transformational leadership in rapidly changing environments across diverse cultures and companies.

He combines a classic CPG background, having started his career at Kraft, with a very strong entrepreneurial drive including starting his own company. He has demonstrated success driving complex businesses including branded, foodservice and private label products in both B2C and B2B environments. These efforts have been executed across all channels (grocery, club, mass, etc.) both via retail and ecommerce.

His significant new product experience spans the entire process from identifying the strategic opportunity to successfully launching products. Leveraging external partners via licensing, promotions, production facilities and sourcing has allowed him to optimize additional sales opportunities.
